Finals Week: The Final Hour

Well, kiddles, this is it. The big kahuna, the last night of my freshman year of college. Shit. The last night I will sit in the dark quad, at my empty desk, avoiding work (or packing), typing random nothings by the light of my laptop screen. Well, as a freshman at least. It's absolutely insane to think that mere months ago I sat by this same screen in the same conditions mortified at living on my own, fascinated by all the shit you learn at college. Not to say I'm not still fascinated (spotted in the parking lot: light saber battle) because I don't think that college will ever cease to surprise me, but I now sit before you (and by that I mean before this screen, behind the words you're reading right now) a wiser, more college-savvy blogger. With all sorts of college wisdom and college friends and roommates who I will miss a SHIT-TON. I can't believe how quickly time goes by. 1/4 (hopefully) of my remaining education is over....and I feel like just yesterday I was introducing myself to everyone as Koala Krysti, from the quad, art education major. And now I'm saying goodbye, still the same old koala Krysti but now with bangs, and slouchy boots, and blue mascara, and a cape, and an adventure time ring tone, and a deeper knowledge of the human psyche and new friends, and a better understanding of how to live with people, and a new appreciation for home-cooked meals and family and clean showers.

Holy crap, is all I can say.

At this point, I'm sure you're all thinking "we get it, you're done a year at college, move on" and to you people I say "shut the hell up, this is MY blog, I'll write what I want, and why the hell are you reading this anyway?" And then I'm going to continue to reminisce. I don't often go mushy, let alone where people can see, but I feel like this occasion calls for some mush. So: points where mush will be directed (in no particular order):
  1. My roommates. I don't think that anyone (except maybe peas-n-carrots) will fully understand the dynamics of my room. Basically you take four completely random people, remove one and replace them, and throw them all in a decently sized room and see what happens. With most people, someone would be dead by week two. With the quad; I don't know if I'll ever be able to sleep alone again (don't twist it, this is a place of mush)
  2. My friends from school. So, I was scared shitless when I came to college that no one would like me. I mean, considering my obnoxious nature and general nerdy/weirdness I was pretty much set on spending a lot of time alone. Nah nah nah. This year I've met some of the most amazing assortment of people, from all my Diehmers <3 to my art class buddies, to the random other mixes of people I've met in clubs and classes. And they're all 1000% so rad-ly mathematical that I cannot even begin to explain to you and I cannot even begin to thank them here or anywhere else for being as fantastic as they are. I love you guys and want to thank you for an INCREDIBLE year.
  3. My friends from home: You thought I was gonna forget y'all didn't you? Not a snowball's chance in hell kiddles. I've missed you like crazy, but absence makes the heart grow fonder, and this absence has simply made me appreciate you all even more. And I know that I can always call/text/email/messenger pigeon/wall post/message/skype you whenever I need you and you'll be there.
  4. My Mom: The one person I could always count on to be there, reading emails at two in the morning whenever I was upset or needed someone to type to. Who sends me care packages and lets me use her credit card to by train tickets to DC and who sends words of love and support on facebook, even though she's not quite sure how to do it. Who can always say something to make me feel better, and keep me updated and recommend good books to read now that she's in a book club. I love her dearly and know it's been hard adapting and miss her like crazy. <3<3<3
There, mush over. Coming soon: krysti's freshman's guide to college!!
