Spotted Around Campus

So, as you all might be hoping, a new year means new Celeb sightings. It's been tricky this year, they're harder to spot for some reason, but I've gathered a few for you all to enjoy.

Johnny Depp: although the guy I spotted was marginally less attractive than the real deal, he was a cutie, and rockin' very JD-esque aviator sunglasses. And he was studin' his little butt off in front of the education building. Which are two key signs that he can't be that bad a guy. No Johnny, but who is?

Ash Katchem: Yes the notorious Pokemon trainer extraordinaire is apparently a science major here. Spotted roaming the bio wing sporting Ash's signature cap (which I kind of really want...sad? Nah)

Dominic Monaghan: He must have come straight off the 'Love the Way You Lie' set to come back to teach here, or maybe it's his dad. Either way, I swear my Botany professor looks oddly like him. But, like in the case of Johnny, nowhere near as attractive (CRHS grads don't worry, I learned my lesson!!)

Blue and Red Rangers: Not spotted together (in fact, Red is the same guy as Ash) but within two days I've already spotted two of the Power Rangers team who are apparently students here. I guess there really is nothing to fear when danger (mostly in the form of gas leaks, snow, or down campus-email) is near.

I'll keep my eyes peeled for any famous faces strolling across the quad but until then, don't forget to submit any celebs you might see on your campus!! Peace out cub scouts!

This Was Legit In Urban Dictionary....

Krysti (noun)

a) A rad girl whose parents can't spell. Always has your back. b) Someone who has pet peeves about little things like tapping feet.

Everyone wants to be friends with her. She's such a krysti.

Better stop clicking your nails, or I'm gonna get all krysti on you.

As Told By Graphs

I will say I know several people who would fall into the green and blue sections. And believe me I'd love to say I'd get all BAMFed up and be in the green section, but I'm pretty slow, so...

And don't ask me what it is about me and zombies of late. Maybe its the onslaught of this year's Zombie Game?

Feelings You Just Can't Beat

  • The feeling of assurance you get when you finally realize a decision that you were super on the fence about just feels right
  • The feeling of reaching a save portal in every video game ever
  • The feeling of finishing your last class on a Thursday (or, for you non-education majors, a Friday)
  • The feeling of walking around holding a pack of candy cigarettes and pretending they're real and then fooling people. (See, I imagine holding the real deal would feel more shameful than cool, which is why I prefer the fakes)
  • The feeling of getting a text from someone you were just thinking about and knowing they were just thinking about you too
  • The feeling of your iPod shuffle being so right-on with your current mood that you wonder what magic spell Steve Jobs puts on those things
  • The feeling of anticipation before Halloween
  • The feeling of a warm sea breeze on your face, knowing it's the last time you'll feel it in awhile
  • The feeling of walking somewhere and running into everyone you know
  • The feeling of walking somewhere new where no one knows you
  • The feeling of someone right before you making the super-insightful comment you were about to make
  • The feeling of not knowing a single answer on a test
  • The feeling of knowing every answer on a test
  • The feeling of the last check on a seemingly impossible ToDo list
  • The feeling of a hug
  • The feeling of waking up knowing that it's pouring outside, you've got homework to finish, and a class until late in the night
  • The feeling of your stomach dropping when you miss that step
  • The feeling of panic every time you walk into your classes on the first day and think its the wrong one
  • The feeling of missing someone
  • The feeling of getting a perfect Saladworks salad
  • The feeling of emotion that chokes you in the middle of the night as you're reading a particularly touching book (don't judge, but Charlie St. Cloud was actually the most recent addition to this club, joining the ranks of works like HP7 and Lovely Bones)
Can you tell I'm feeling sentimental?

Fun Facts for No Reason At All

"In the Victorian era, fans were the ultimate playful props that could communicate all sorts of messages. A fan placed near the heart meant “You have won my love.” A half-opened fan pressed to the lips was an invitation, saying, “You may kiss me.” Hiding the eyes behind an open fan meant “I love you,” while opening and closing the fan several times was a chastisement, implying, “You are cruel.” Given how much a fan could come in handy, it’s a shame they ever invented air conditioning."

Saying so much, without saying anything at all (I need to work on that....), all while still looking fabulous! Damn, the Victorians knew what they were doing...(particularly the Steampunk ones).

A Semester of Firsts

So I realised the other day that despite my whole year of sophomore-ly wisdom, this is still a huge semester of firsts, that quite frankly, leave me feeling a bit like a freshman..
  • First time having a class in Roddy, Stayer, McComsey, and Wickersham
  • First semester with only one 2.5 hour studio art class (last one!!)
  • First education class
  • First lab
  • First huge (well, 104 people, for some readers that's tiny) lecture class
  • First night class
  • First time (hopefully) add/dropping a class
  • First time I'll be done classes before 3:30
  • First time with field placement
  • First seminar class
  • First time eating at HOPI
  • First time sharing books
  • First time using D2L
  • First class on the North Side of campus
  • First science class
It's like I've never even gone to this school before! So much new! Holy cow. In other news, some things never change...
  • Same room
  • Same dorm
  • Same room mates (who I love to death)
  • Same bunk beds
  • Same lovely cleaning people
  • Same shitty UD food (literally, same fortune cookies, they were SO STALE)
  • Same amount of progress on the construction projects....
  • Same backpack
  • Same ID picture (but new ID holder *sigh* I guess Vera Bradly is onto something...)
  • Same art teacher (three consecutive semesters strong Brant!)
  • Same art time (MW 1:00-3:30)
Sometimes it's like I never left...but don't worry readers, there's still plenty of things to learn.

First Day-O-School

Today I learned....
  • Not all the freshman are biddies. I was a bit to harsh in my initial evaluation
  • I need to keep up with the up-and-coming artists (anyone wanna offer some suggestions of really good, living, artists?)
  • The Anchor is a terrible place
  • THERE'S A MOTHER-LOVIN' SALADWORKS FOOD CART ON CAMPUS!! And they do meal plan! Life=complete
  • I hate UD food
  • My ed teacher is going to a Lady Gaga concert (I think we're going to get alone juuuuust fine...)
  • Shortcuts in Lancaster...not so short.
  • Blendinis are actually pretty legit
  • A watched skype never rings
  • My RA doesn't think we're super weird.
  • Great minds use the same shampoo (hooray for herbal essence)
  • Herbal Essences shampoo bottle and two-in-one bottle are the same...whoops
  • Facebook video is a fail
  • There's an international student from South Africa in my ed class! whoah!
  • I <3 Cyber Cafe
  • I missed 11:00 'Family Guy' but happily there are significantly less fast food commercials, which is good for me and Peas-n-Carrots
  • Vera Bradley may be onto something with those stupid, cliche ID holders...as much as I don't want to admit it
  • It's so good to be back!!!
  • 2.5 hour studios are so much easier to bear if for 5 weeks they're the only class you have that day, and are not followed by another 2.5 hour studio. Art majors, bless your little hearts (but I can't bless your souls, you've long since sold them to the art department....)\\
And this....

"This is the most photogenic spot on campus" *large cough* MILLERSVILLE'S POND *large cough*
"We just started a huge construction project on our dining halls, library, auditorium, and student center, but we won't be here to see it, neither will you!" Sound familiar?!

Shoutout to Peas-n-Carrots for the video :)

WE'REEEEE BAAAAACK

So, suffice to say that stepping into my room earlier today was legit one of the best feelings in the world. Abet now I'm mad tired and lonely (all the roomies have interesting Cantan-less social lives and bfs) but I wouldn't trade it for the world. It feels so good to be back, blogging from my humble little nook of a desk from school hanging out with some of the grandest people ever, playing strategy-based games until the wee hours of the morning (okay, not that wee, but cut us a break we all had to move in this morning!!) And shout outs to the new freshies, met up with some really awesome ones today :) However, look out AU because our biddie count is through the roof this year. Although I don't want to judge to quickly or too harshly, but there were several flocks of them in Hopi and the surrounding areas, so we'll see...

Other than that, not too much to learn today, just a lot of catching up, scouring for food, and Disney music. Good day, in my book. Olive Garden tomorrow, ohhhh yeah endless soup, salad, and bread sticks...More soon!
